Willy Vanderperre

Willy Vanderperre, one of the most influential photographers and filmmakers working in contemporary fashion, was born and raised in Belgium. Based in Antwerp, Vanderperre initially studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts before transitioning to photography, finding it a more immediate and expressive medium for his creative impulses. His background in fashion design imbues his work with a deep understanding of clothing, allowing him to seamlessly merge the visual language of fashion with his artistic vision.
Vanderperre is known for his striking fashion editorials and high-concept advertising work. He has created memorable campaigns for Prada, Raf Simons, Calvin Klein, Zara and Dior, while contributing regularly to Perfect, W, Dust, AnOther, i-D, Harper’s Bazaar Italia and Vogue.
In recent years, Vanderperre has expanded his creative reach beyond fashion, delving into contemporary dance-theater and extended narrative filmmaking. He has also embraced the immediacy of Instagram, using the platform as an experimental space to share his unique visual perspective. His fascination with youth and isolation has been a motivational force for almost three decades, exemplified by his 2024 exhibition, “Willy Vanderperre: Prints, Films, a Rave and More…” at ModeMuseum Antwerp (MoMu).
