Masha Vasyukova
- Director
Paris-based director Masha Vasyukova lived in Texas and London during her formative years. Her cinematic imagery and rigorous character studies have been shaped by her lived experience in all three settings. Surreal narratives, landscapes and transitory spaces are a connecting thread throughout her work.
Vasyukova has directed fashion and beauty films for Alexander McQueen, Prada, Graff, Iris van Herpen, Paco Rabanne, Hermès, Lancôme, Shiseido, Armani, Chanel and Loro Piana. Her editorial projects for British Vogue, Interview, Beyond Noise and T: The New York Times Style Magazine have featured Brad Pitt, Natalie Portman, Rihanna, Eminem and Anya Taylor-Joy. Vasyukova also collaborates regularly with Craig McDean, with whom she has made music videos, commercial and experimental films.
Vasyukova’s first short film, the documentary Woody Before Allen, premiered at Woodstock IFF and toured festivals around the world, winning Best Short Documentary at the American Film Corner at Cannes in 2012. Vasyukova is currently working on a long-term project documenting her research into the Jean Cocteau film, Coriolan.
