IB Kamara
- Stylist
IB Kamara is a stylist known for his daring approach to fashion, always deftly layering and recontextualizing clothing and beauty to move style in bold new directions. Kamara’s work is innovative and witty, often upbeat and always elevated. It marries high fashion with the wholly unexpected. Born in Sierra Leone and raised in Gambia, Kamara moved to London at the age of sixteen. He attended Central Saint Martins and interned for legendary stylist Barry Kamen, a key figure in the Buffalo movement of the 1980s. He served as editor-in-chief of Dazed from 2021-2025 and is currently the creative director of Off-White, whose late founder Virgil Abloh remarked in 2021, “An Ib Kamara comes along once in a generation.”
Kamara’s vision has brought him to collaborations with Beyoncé, Rihanna, Madonna, Harry Styles, Tyla and Rosalía. He works frequently with the photographers Steven Meisel, Paolo Roversi, Mikael Jansson, David Sims, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and Glen Luchford. His commercial clients have included Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Ferragamo, Gucci and Kenzo.
In addition to his editorial work at Dazed, Kamara has contributed to French, Italian, British and American Vogue, Double, AnOther, W and i-D, where he served as senior fashion editor-at-large from 2019 to 2021. His work was featured in the exhibitions “Utopian Voices Here & Now” (Somerset House, 2016), “Soft Criminal” (Red Hook Labs, 2018) and “Africa Fashion” (Victoria & Albert Museum, 2022). Kamara was the 2021 recipient of the British Fashion Council’s Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator.
