Guido
- Hair Stylist
Guido Palau is the fashion industry’s most innovative and sought-after hair stylist, revered for launching trends and elevating hairstyling into an art form. His practice gained momentum in the 1990s with his work on George Michael’s Freedom! ‘90 music video—featuring Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford and Tatjana Patitz—and his groundbreaking collaborations with David Sims for The Face and Calvin Klein. Over the past three decades, Guido has maintained his status as a leading figure in the industry, embarking on a long-term collaboration with Steven Meisel and shaping the looks for numerous brand campaigns and runway shows.
Guido’s expertise has been recognized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, which commissioned him to design the head treatments for three iconic exhibitions: Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty (2011), Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations (2012) and Punk: Chaos to Couture (2013). His work was also featured in the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum’s fifth Design Triennial (2016) which celebrated the intersection of beauty and contemporary design.
Guido has published four books: Heads: Hair by Guido (Booth-Clibborn Editions, 2000), Hair: Guido (Rizzoli, 2014), #HAIRTESTS (Idea, 2021) and Hidden Identities (Idea, 2024). His editorial contributions appear frequently in W magazine and in the British, Italian, French and American editions of Vogue. His commercial clients include Prada, Dior, Loewe, Schiaparelli, Fendi, Versace, Ralph Lauren, The Row, Sacai, Dolce & Gabbana and Miu Miu. As Creative Director of Zara Hair from 2022 – 2025, Guido developed the brand’s entry into hair products.
