Gordon von Steiner
- Director
Gordon von Steiner’s films are characterized by their creative editing, refined sound design, playful choreography and distinct sensuality. His productions are designed to captivate and linger in the viewer’s memory, long after the final frame.
Originally from Toronto, von Steiner relocated to New York, where he graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a concentration in experimental cinema. He began his career collaborating with photographer Steven Meisel, which helped him refine the unique, dynamic fashion directional style that defines his work today. His distinct vision has led to projects with Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Versace, Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana and Cartier.
In addition to his commercial work, von Steiner has contributed to M Le magazine du Monde, Vanity Fair, Vogue and Vogue Italia. In 2024, he was invited to shoot the cover of Vanity Fair’s celebrated Hollywood Issue, which featured actors including Natalie Portman, Bradley Cooper, Pedro Pascal and Colman Domingo, among others.
Recognized for his innovative storytelling, von Steiner has earned accolades from the Clio Awards, The Society of Publication Designers and the Berlin Fashion Film Festival, where his short film Persona won awards across four categories. His work has been exhibited at Palais Galliera in Paris, Fondazione Forma per la Fotografia in Milan and Museum Bellerive in Zurich.
Recently, von Steiner served as creative director for Troye Sivan’s album, Something to Give Each Other, directing three music videos – one of which was nominated for a Grammy – and leading the stage design and direction for Sivan’s world tour.
Von Steiner works internationally, with a base in New York City.
